My writng background

Writing has been my favorite hobby for years. I wrote pretty regularly for pleasure until a dry spell hit. Then, A wave of inspiration came to me in late 2020 from my favorite blogs and probably boredom. So, I revived the inactive Livejournal account that I started in 2014 to great success. Being active in their equivalent of Facebook groups helped raise my visibility considerably on the platform.

I have had many top entries on the platform. . I write about different things there, but my main themes are Christianity, Backstreet Boys, and cats. The common thread through them is opinion and reflections. I also believe in promoting others, so I share others’ content mostly with my own commentary to make it enjoyable.

I considered becoming a professional writer but not focusing, and my bad academic writing performance discouraged me. The school will condition you to believe that academic writing is all there is. Now I have discovered that this is my favorite type of writing. I hope I can really pursue my passion through blogging. You don’t have to be perfect, just presentable. Tools like Grammarly help with proofreading tremendously by finding the errors for you. If you are a writer like me, I definitely recommend it. It is worth the subscription price.

My other interests

.I like the Spanish language and some of its pop culture. I have watched some novelas, but rarely to the end I mostly enjoy news programing. I am a big fan of Gamerkevmo’s animations, especially el Politigato. You will see me in the official Politgato that Gamerkevmo created in the featured image. My former teacher from Venezuela was happy and said I might be the only gringa who understood the language and the context.

I also like some Latin music, though I agree with the critique of Reggaeton. My favorite is Gloria Estefan’s Spanish language music, especially Abriendo Puertas, which has become my new Year’s anthem. I was a fan before, now I am glad I can listen to her in English and Spanish. News is my primary way to practice listening to Spanish. The US Spanish networks cover much of the same news from a Hispanic POV sprinkled with some stories from Latin America. Of course, there is also a big focus on immigration as well.

I also enjoy swimming and reading and Pusheen.
