What happened to the Backstreeet Boys Christmas Shows?

The Backstreet Boy Christmas shows are canceled as a result of the album delay. This happened after months of anticipation and hype. This added to the frustration that resulted from the two-canceled DNA shows and COVId lockdown inactivity. Unlike the initial frustration over tickets, I am sympathetic to both sides because I have a greater understanding of the emotion behind it. I realized previously that I was looking at something that is pure emotion too logically. Therefore won’t resonate with most. Ho This came up suddenly and left international fans who could travel in a lurch with arrangements they could not cancel. However, fans should not jump to nasty and unfounded conclusions as it is always about them. That is really unfair and discounts the guys’ effort on our behalf.

Possible reason for the Backstreet Boy s Christmas show cancellation

The reason for this sudden change of plans is anyone’s guesses. I imagine that producers couldn’t get together to finish the post-production work, most likely due to Covid concerns. The cancelation of the shows is more puzzling, but like someone said, most likely to contractual obligations. It didn’t make sense to have shown to promote an album they weren’t releasing right away. I also believe European fan’s inability to travel also played a role in this decision. Like with the DNA shows, they may have wanted everyone to participate. This is especially true for European fans who did not get a second DNA leg. International fans played a significant role in the first residency’s success.

The timing and circumstances of the Christmas show cancelation also validate the idea that @misha_bsb ( security guard Mike who tweets BSB news) had about scheduling conflicts with the choreographer.

Not majorly surprised about the BSBChristmasParty cancellation, what with Covid still raging

… plus, I think the guys had said that the Talauega brothers would be doing the choreography, and R&T are busy with the choreography for “Michael Jackson: The Musical.”

Did Howie Have to do it?

Fans should have seen this coming in light of Howie’s inexplicable convention appearance cancelation due to personal reasons. I thought it was his real estate business commitments. However, it is most likely due to dissatisfaction with distancing procedures a the convention. Similarly, I would have been surprised if Live Nation’s testing and vaccination verification policies were too much for them. It is far-fetched, but given that Gwen Stefani is doing her residency immediately before the guy was at the same venue, I would not be surprised. While fan complaints centered around meet and greets, concerns might have arisen about the whole show.

Clear Communication calms

It will be in their best interest to elaborate on the announcement above as the resulting resentment may linger for a while if they don’. The guys built the anticipation only to inexplicably take it way. The tweet below is most representative of this feeling. This saddens me because it was almost like she was mourning. I hope she was in a good state of mind when she wrote this because it goes beyond usual disappointment.

I cried. Cried a little more. And some more. @backstreetboys show is canceled. I don’t know how much longer I can get excited about life and then have it taken away. I am ๐Ÿ’” #goodnight.

So

As I learned with the recent controversy surrounding Brian, the longer something like goes unanswered, the more vicious and unfounded the speculation will be. The tweet below is an example of this. No matter how justified their anger of his perceived or actual COVID stance, this was unnecessary. This is not what I am part of this fan base. However, I can only blame myself for thinking there was any hint of rationality on the guys’ official Twitter.

My guess is that Brian refuses to get vaccinated, and that’s why they’re postponing it.

But…

Being angry is tiring, no matter how valid your anger is. You really just gotta let some shit go and let it be what it’s gon be, for your own sake.

THis is different from the normal Downtime

The only left is to be patient and hopes COVID or something else does not dash hopes again. How fans should consider that possibility since COVID uncertainty will most like continue in 2022. Given the accuracy of my prediction in the past, I have every reason to believe it will.

And if you are European, you might have a better chance to make it in 2022, especially if my theory about canceling the show because of you is accurate. This is especially true since European fans were not getting a second DNA leg. I believe this is one of the most likely because this is precisely why they delayed the DNA shows again. Venues were canceling individually. Therefore to ensure maximum participation and consistency, it was better to try again late.

They have been nothing but gracious, especially for thinking of the album and the show in the first place. This is unlike things they have mentioned in passing as if they were official and never followed through on. The Christmas album is pretty much a done deal, although the show status remains to be seen was thinking more about them. No artist cancels something suddenly, like when circumstances seem to allow it, especially so anticipated.

I just hope everything is okay with them. It all seemed odd that Nick was back in the studio soon after. I don’t think the cancellation had to do with him. He was just taking advantage of the newly created downtime. For anxious fans’ sake, they should come out and explain this more fully. I am satisfied with waiting another year, but most are not.

Update 9/13/21 No angry contingent it is not Brian

AJ clarified to Billboard that it is indeed because they have not finished the album and were a little leary about COVID. With everything else going on, it may not be justified, as some said. However, they have fans in the place where Covid is still a considerable concern. So my let’s wait for more international fan participation theory is correct. For them, it has always been quality and getting the highest participation possible. That is why I admire them. I don’t know why they could have not said from the beginning. However, the “the state of the world” phrase should have been a clue if people read to understand and not react. Thank you, AJ or someone in the group’s team, for reading my mind and perhaps my writing
