I want to send a big thank you to everyone who has read my blog so far or even just checked it out. When I started, I had high hopes. I knew that trying blog for money was different from the hobby blogging over at my LiveJournal page( new link is at the top homepage menu), Then I realized I am more involved in the writing than strategy. I have always enjoyed the craft, but I realized without the plan was not even going to make a side income from this. I am not that kind of person. When I first heard the SEO, I never thought I would be actually using that. Hilariously, I keep saying C.E.O. when I mean SEO. That probably shows you where my mind is. hheheehehehehl. Even so, I am glad for the small but consistent traffic that got me to 1k total views in less than two months of starting this blog in late June of 2021

. Ultimately I realized I am not at the no-day job phase just yet. I am trying to make sense of those analytics. Bounce rates or the percentage of those who leave a site without clicking through is tricky. My analysis showed a higher than desired bounce rate. However, the view exceeded the number of visitors, which to me meant they were clicking through. I wish WordPress was just as straightforward as LiveJournal was regarding what constitutes a unique view.s.

I also learned to not underestimate WordPress.s I realized that differences between this and Livejournal no too bad.e It took me a while to understand how embedding worked on LiveJournal. Also, it took some adjustments to get used to blocks on the app. Even after having a smartphone since 2013, I find it hard to type copy and paste on one. I even extolled WordPress’s virtue to someone looking to build a site for a church homegroup.

Bluehost might be my first one if I ever do affiliates, just because it makes WordPress setup so much easier. They also have dedicated WordPress customer service for a small 29 /month fee. They also offer additional tools like a business email through Microsoft Office 365 suite and SEO tools. Though for on-page, I recommend an SEO plug-in like Rank Math or Yoast, depending on your needs.

All of this is pretty much learn as I go. However, I need to take the time to learn more. I am the one who hoards this kind of stuff and never looks. I am proud that I did not let the fear of failure hold me back this time. Before, I would’ve been so paralyzed. I would have never started until I thought I knew everything or even at all.

But on the bright side, learning all the strategy stuff has interested me in Digital Marketing, specifically social media marketing. I have learned a lot through chats with professionals and pure observation. However, some formal education is required to learn technical skills. I found Digital Marketers are welcoming of laypeople just learning. Probably that’s because traditional marketers non-marketing executive believes the misconception digital is just another marketing channel even digital has its own channels, such as Pay-per-click, ad, and Search engine marketing and email marketing. General Assembly once tested traditional marketers and found that very few already possessed digital marketing skills. Social media is one part of the game. As the 10/4/21 Facebook outage taught many, including me, it is best to diversify traffic sources.

In conclusion. don’t be shy to comment. I use comments to create a community. Let me know what you like and don’t like. . If you are interested in discussing blogging in general, email me at my new blog-related address margazineblog@outlook.com

    1. I have a lot of interests, the point is finding those who share them. And trying to think like an audience unlike me. But the specific direction of the type of posts did take different directions as I wrote I also noticed various themes of my posts.
